CDCP Dentist in Langley
SmileCraft Dental welcomes patients on the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We bill Sun Life directly for eligible covered services, so most people don’t pay us up front for the covered portion.
- Accepting new CDCP patients of all ages
- Direct billing to Sun Life for eligible services
- We don’t charge above the CDCP fee for covered treatment
- Open Saturdays and Sundays, closed Mondays

The Canadian Dental Care Plan, briefly
The CDCP is a federal dental plan, administered through Sun Life, for Canadian residents without access to private dental insurance. It pays most or all of the cost of routine dental care at participating providers, based on your adjusted family net income.
You apply through the Government of Canada — not through us — and you re-apply each benefit year. Once you’re approved and have your coverage start date, you can book with any participating dentist.
Who can apply
You need to meet all four of these, and you confirm them again every year:
- No access to private dental insurance — including through work, a pension or an association, even if you don’t use it
- Adjusted family net income under $90,000
- You filed your tax return for the previous year, and so did your spouse or partner
- You’re a Canadian resident for tax purposes
Co-payment by income
Your adjusted family net income decides how much of the CDCP fee the plan pays and how much you pay us directly.
| Adjusted family net income | CDCP pays | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| Under $70,000 | 100% | Nothing |
| $70,000 – $79,999 | 60% | 40% |
| $80,000 – $89,999 | 40% | 60% |
| $90,000 and over | Not eligible for the plan | |
These are steps, not a sliding scale — crossing a threshold by a few dollars changes your share for the whole benefit year.
What the plan covers at SmileCraft
Generally covered
- Examinations and X-rays
- Cleanings, scaling and polishing
- Fluoride and sealants
- Fillings
- Root canal treatment
- Extractions
- Crowns, where pre-authorised
Not covered by the plan
- Dental implants
- Bridges
- Cosmetic treatment such as whitening and veneers
- Invisalign and other orthodontic treatment for adults
- Anything above the plan’s frequency limits
Not covered doesn’t mean unavailable — it means you’d pay for it yourself, and we’ll quote it first.
How to apply or renew
File your taxes
You and your spouse or partner both need last year’s return filed. Without it the CRA can’t verify your income and the application is declined.
Apply through the Government of Canada
Online through My Service Canada Account, or by phone on 1-833-537-4342. It’s free, and it isn’t something we can do for you.
Wait for your Sun Life details
You’ll receive a member number and a coverage start date. Treatment before that start date isn’t covered.
Book with us
Bring your CDCP or Sun Life details to your first visit and we’ll verify coverage and bill directly.
What happens at your first visit
For a routine new-patient appointment we aim to complete your examination, any necessary X-rays and your cleaning the same day, so you leave knowing where you stand rather than booking three separate visits.
- Bring your CDCP or Sun Life member details
- We verify your coverage before treatment starts
- Anything not covered is quoted first
- Children and families welcome, with a play area
